Mary Kituli

Standard 1

Mary and her husband, James, have three children and live in Embakasi section of Nairobi. They have 14 year old twin boys and a 10 year old girl.

Mrs. Kituli has a training in Early Childhood Development which greatly benefits her young students. She has been teaching at New Adventure since it’s inception 6 years ago. She decided to teach at New Adventure because she saw all the children who had nowhere to get education due to lack of school fees because their parents are financially helpless and many of these students are orphans. Also, she needed to work somewhere where she could impress upon her students the need to follow the Lord. Jesus is her personal savior who “delivered me from the bondage of sin”.

Her favorite aspect of being a teacher is helping her students build for their future so they can benefit the rest of the country. She finds the Christian Religious Education (CRE) aspect of the curriculum very important because she is telling the little ones about Jesus who died on the cross for all our sins.

Mary has a challenging job of teaching a group of children who come from diverse backgrounds; some have had the benefit of preschool and come with some knowledge some are older (7 or 8) and don’t even know their ABC’s. Mary’s love for them and desire for them to learn quickly helps them begin building the foundation for their future schooling and success.
