Standard 3
Ann is the proud mother of a beautiful 18 month old girl. Ms. Kamathi was trained as a teacher in Embu and now lives with her daughter in Satellite portion of Nairobi. She has taught at New Adventure School for 3 years. She chose to teach there because of the Christian foundation of the school and because of the needy children it assists. She felt called to assist and commit herself to shape their lives for the better. Jesus is “my closes friend and savior of my heart.” She wants people to know that in Kibera, being the largest slum in Africa, most of the people live below the poverty line and most of the children at the school are needy. There are many orphans who have lost their parents due to the AIDS pandemic. Because of this she sees a heightened importance of education for these kids (and a heightened threat to receiving it) to improve their standard of living and ability to gain sufficient employment in their later lives. |
Ms. Kamathi’s favorite part of being a teacher is equipping young people, not only through education, but through teaching them about God and having faith in Him, for their future.
