Library
Library Books
Books are a luxury in the slum and currently NAS does not have a library in operation. We would like to begin building up a library to provide students with a variety of appropriate fiction and nonfiction books. Through access to our books we hope to foster a love of reading and improve the literacy skills of our students. Twenty dollars will buy 2 books to help build our library!
Because it is expensive to receive packages in Kenya we ask that if you choose to send books, you also cover the cost of receiving the package. Please contact Michelle Benz for more about the types of books that are needed, mailing instructions, and receiving costs.

Text Books
In addition to establishing the library, text books are also needed. Since class sizes are large and the books are relatively expensive, most students at NAS share. We would like to continually improve the ratio of books to students to ensure quality education. Also replacing books is necessary because of the wear and tear that occurs in such a difficult environment. And although students take good care of their books, they are bound to get dirty and deteriate because of use. Twenty-eight dollars will puchase one set of primary textbooks!
